On Saturday, October 16, the Fort Lewis Exchange in Washington State, hosted a free meet and greet with four members of the Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders. This was a very successful event, and the girls had a long line throughout their signing. They signed free posters as well as sold several copies of their calendars and team magazines. The girls enjoyed their time here at Fort Lewis and can’t express enough their gratitude and appreciation for all that the soldiers do here. They learned quite a bit about what the soldiers and families go through during deployments as well as the extensive trainings while at their duty stations. They hope to one day return and visit more of the troops. Overall this was a great event, and the ladies were all very friendly and great people to work with.
The squad started their day at Fort Lewis on Friday by attending a combative life savings course at the Medical Simulation Training Center. They watched as soldiers trained how to handle situations where their fellow soldiers are hurt and wounded in the line of duty and how to properly respond in that situation. This was a real eye opener for the girls to see just how intense a situation like that can be, and how quick one has to respond when in that scenario.
Next the girls went to the Simulation Center and learned how to properly shoot M16s. They learned how to load the guns, aim, and properly shoot at their targets. The girls had a blast here and all of them shot really well and managed to hit most of their targets.
Finally to end their night they went to the JBLM Fire Department and had a nice spaghetti dinner with the fire fighters. Here they toured the station, tried on their equipment, went for a ride in the fire truck, and got a chance to test out the water hose. The girls had a great time here and really enjoyed seeing everything that goes into being a good fire fighter.
On Saturday the girls had a meet and greet at both McChord and Fort Lewis, and had a great turnout at both locations. The cheerleaders were very impressed with everything they did here this weekend, and can’t wait to go back and share their experience with their teammates.
